Courses at IS Aix-en-Provence begin on Mondays. Most students arrive on Sunday to give themselves time to settle into accommodation and orientate before the first lesson.

IS Aix-en-Provence French Semester SF 2026 is a 12-week French programme if you want more than a short language stay. It is designed for adult learners who want a full semester structure, steady progress and the option to prepare for an official DELF exam at the end of the course.

Dates and structure: the 2026 start date is 28 September 2026. The course runs for 12 weeks with 20 lessons per week. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes. Classes run Monday to Friday, either mornings or afternoons; the detailed timetable is communicated onsite and may be adjusted if a French public holiday falls during the week.

Level and placement: the published level range is A2 to B1, with other levels available on request. Each participant completes an online written assessment before arrival and an oral assessment on the first day, so the school can place students accurately and follow their progress through the semester.

Teaching and outcomes: the programme works on listening, speaking, reading and writing, with extra focus on interaction, mediation and confidence in everyday communication. Lessons include grammar revision, authentic materials, conversations, debates and presentations. External educational activities can also be planned as part of the learning experience.

Teachers and certificate: teachers at IS Aix hold qualifications in teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE) and receive ongoing pedagogical training. At the end of the course, each participant receives a certificate confirming the course duration and CEFR level reached.

Host family — breakfast only (single room)
Single room with breakfast provided. Lunch and dinner are your own arrangement — the Aix café and restaurant scene makes this very workable (see city section below for recommended eating spots near the school). More independence, slightly less immersion.
