SIOC — Study In anOther Country AS is a Norwegian-registered language travel agency (org. nr. as per Brønnøysundregisteret) based in Stord, Norway. We arrange language courses abroad for students from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and internationally. Our website is www.language-studies.com.

What data we collect and why
Enquiry and reserve forms
When you submit an enquiry or reserve request, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if provided) and the details of your course enquiry. This data is used solely to respond to your enquiry and arrange your course reserve. It is never sold or shared with third parties except the language school you choose to book with.
Calculator usage
The pricing calculator on school pages operates entirely in your browser. We do not collect or store calculator inputs. No data is sent to our servers unless you explicitly submit a reserve enquiry.
Language preference
We store your chosen language (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, German, French or English) in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device.
Cookies
This website uses minimal cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies or third-party analytics. If we add analytics in future, we will update this policy and request your consent.
Legal basis (GDPR)
We process personal data submitted via our contact and reserve forms on the basis of legitimate interest (responding to your enquiry) and contract performance (arranging your course reserve). You have the right to request deletion of your data at any time by emailing info@language-studies.com.
Data retention
Enquiry data is retained for up to 3 years for accounting and correspondence purposes, then deleted. You may request deletion at any time.

Third-party services
SIOC form processing — enquiry forms are processed on SIOC’s own hosting and forwarded to the SIOC advisory inbox. Form data is not sent through an advertising network.
Google Maps — school location maps are embedded from Google Maps. Google's privacy policy applies to map interactions.
YouTube — school video embeds use YouTube's no-cookie domain (youtube-nocookie.com) to minimise tracking.
Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We do not store payment card data — all payments are handled by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant.

Updates
Last updated: July 2026. We will notify users of material changes by posting an update notice on our homepage.
Booking requests and uploaded documents
When you use the SIOC booking form, we process the identity, contact, study, funding and next-of-kin information you provide. Supporting files are transmitted over HTTPS, validated by the server and attached directly to the private SIOC case email. They are not stored in a public upload folder. Only upload documents needed for the application. Email is not end-to-end encrypted. SIOC retains case correspondence and necessary documents only for as long as required to handle the application, meet legal obligations and document the advisory relationship.
