SIOC personal-fit guidance
Language study for ages 60–70
Study abroad with comfort, independence and intellectual challenge, whether travelling alone, with a friend or with a non-studying partner.
A language course works best when the school, destination, accommodation and daily rhythm fit the person—not just the language.
What usually matters most
A manageable timetable, suitable accommodation, clear transport, cultural substance and practical support without patronising assumptions.
- Current age mix
- Programme and start dates
- Exact accommodation
- Arrival and evening transport
- Accessibility or dietary needs
Choosing the school
- Ask about morning-only, one-to-one, combination and 50+ formats.
- Confirm lifts, stairs, bathroom arrangements and walking distances.
- Check whether a companion may share accommodation without taking lessons.
Accommodation and everyday comfort
- Select the pace that suits your energy and goals, not a stereotype about age.
- A private room or apartment may be worth more than a longer commute.
- Build recovery time into the first days after travel.
Arrival, support and personal safety
- Use a pre-arranged arrival when transfers involve luggage or several changes.
- Share relevant mobility, dietary or medical logistics only with the providers who need them.
- Confirm who can help outside reception hours.
